Andrew Voss

Andrew’s first logo was for The Lawn Ranger, a company he started at the age of 11 with a GX75 John Deere garden tractor and 10 customers. Seven years later, Andrew sold the company to one of his employees and moved onto Grinnell College in rural Iowa where he graduated with a degree in Chinese. As part of his college studies, he lived near Tibet in Sichuan Province, famous for spicy food and hot pot with dog. Andrew also worked for ABN Amro in Singapore, developing Internet banking websites, practicing Mandarin and occasionally snorkeling. Andrew’s favorite Chinese dish makes him sick, but spicy bbq’d goat meat is worth it.

Several years later, Andrew returned to school to hone his design skills at The College of Visual Arts in St. Paul. He graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design and was promptly hired by one of his teachers, Jeff Johnson of Spunk. Andrew was then ushered out the door and into the arms of Jeff’s alma mater, Duffy & Partners, where he interned for a year. Andrew’s love for Spunk, however, could not be deterred. He was rehired by Jeff as a freelancer for the Design Machine where he enjoys making a proper cup of tea. Andrew has numerous design awards, including The One Show, Print’s Regional Design Annual, and the AIGA. He’s worked for clients such as American Eagle, Aveda, Basin, Thymes, General Mills, Target, and Microsoft.
